Meet Molly Armando: The Story Behind TIDES Real Estate Group
By Molly Armando · July 1, 2025 · 6 min read
If you’ve picked up this week’s Dartmouth Weekly, you may have seen the very first issue of The South Coast Sloop — TIDES Real Estate Group’s new local feature. The print version had to be short. This is the longer one.
Molly Armando is a Dartmouth native, founder of TIDES Real Estate Group, and a licensed broker with Real Broker MA, LLC. After more than a decade in corporate digital marketing, she left her tech career in 2022 to build a real estate brand grounded in honesty, education, and local expertise — closing more than $65 million in volume across the South Coast in her first 2.5 years.
This is the story of how TIDES came to be, and why every client conversation starts with listening first.
If you’ve spent any time on the TIDES website, you may have seen my face by now. And if you’re holding this week’s Dartmouth Weekly, you’ve definitely seen it on the front of the first South Coast Sloop. Either way: most people in the South Coast community know the brand a little before they know the person behind it, so here is a more honest introduction.
Born and Raised in Dartmouth
I grew up in Dartmouth. This town has always been home, and it shapes the way I approach the work I do here. But like a lot of people, my path to where I am today wasn’t a straight line.
In high school I felt lost. I envied the classmates who already seemed to have a plan — the ones who could answer the question “what do you want to be when you grow up?” without hesitating. I couldn’t. The only subject I genuinely loved was art (a quiet thank-you to Mrs. McFee, who made it feel like a place I belonged), but I knew art alone wasn’t going to be a career path for me.
The moment things shifted was sitting in my guidance counselor’s office. He asked one question — “Have you thought about business?” — and for the first time, I felt a flicker of real interest. Business felt broad. It felt like a lane that wouldn’t lock me into one identity. So I followed it.
A Detour Through Corporate Marketing
After college, I spent twelve years collaborating with senior executives at various tech companies, building out their digital marketing strategies. I learned how brands are built. I learned how to read data, run campaigns, position a company, and turn cold attention into warm relationships. Those skills, it turns out, transfer almost directly to real estate.
In 2022, I hit 130% of my sales quota at a large software company. The reviews were strong. The numbers were strong. Then I came back from maternity leave and was told my performance “wasn’t where it needed to be.”
That was the moment something clicked. I realized I was a number on someone else’s spreadsheet — and I wanted to build something where the people, not the metrics, came first.
Choosing Real Estate, and Choosing It Fully
In April of 2022, I left the corporate job. With the support of my family — and especially my husband, John — I put everything I had into building a brand from scratch. I had talked about pursuing real estate “someday” for years. This was the day someday finally arrived.
I got my license, then my broker’s license, and started TIDES Real Estate Group. The name came from something I’d noticed about this industry: real estate is cyclical, just like the tides. Markets rise, markets pull back, conditions shift. Trying to predict the perfect moment is exhausting. What actually helps people is being grounded — having a steady hand to walk them through whatever conditions show up.
Like the tides, real estate fluctuates with highs and lows. For the first time in my life, I know I’m exactly where I’m meant to be. — Molly Armando
Building TIDES from the Ground Up
In two and a half years, TIDES closed more than $65 million in sales volume. More importantly, we helped hundreds of clients navigate one of the most personal, financially significant decisions they’ll ever make — and we met some genuinely remarkable people along the way.
One thing I want to be honest about: real estate agents today are, whether they realize it or not, modern-day marketers. We don’t just sell houses. We market houses, market a brand, and use technology and content to bring the right buyer to the right home at the right moment. The agents who pretend otherwise are usually the ones leaving money on the table for their clients.
At TIDES, we treat the marketing side seriously because it’s how we deliver results. But we never let the marketing replace the relationship. The polished posts, the newsletters, the listing strategies — those are all in service of one thing: helping people make smart decisions about where they live.
Why This Work Actually Matters to Me
This career has given me freedom, fulfillment, and something I didn’t expect — purpose. Real estate pulls together every part of what I love doing: marketing, negotiation, design, problem-solving, relationship-building, and creativity. But above all of it, I love helping people.
Buying or selling a home is rarely just a transaction. It’s a move into a new chapter — a marriage, a baby, a job change, a downsize, a loss. The people I work with are usually navigating something bigger than a real estate deal, and they deserve someone in their corner who notices that.
What This Means If You’re Thinking About a Move
Whether you’re a first-time buyer trying to understand the differences between Dartmouth, Westport, Fairhaven, and Mattapoisett, a seller wondering whether to list this year or next, or a coastal household relocating from out of state, my goal is the same: help you make the decision that actually fits your life — not the decision that’s most convenient for an agent.
If you’re early in the process and just want to talk it through, that’s the kind of conversation I most enjoy. No pressure, no script — just a chance to share what I know about the South Coast and figure out whether it makes sense to keep working together.
