When I first walked into Candela, New Bedford’s newest addition to the downtown dining scene, I knew right away this wasn’t just another restaurant opening. The attention to detail — from the interior design to the atmosphere to the menu — signaled something special.

Located in the historic Candleworks building, Candela feels like a fresh chapter for the space. It’s elegant, modern, and inviting — a perfect reflection of what’s happening in New Bedford right now. The city is in the midst of a cultural and economic renaissance, and Candela fits into that momentum seamlessly.

The restaurant is part of Steve Silverstein’s Servedwell Hospitality Group, which already runs several successful concepts in the region. With Candela, that same commitment to quality, service, and experience is front and center. The food is vibrant and thoughtful, the cocktails are expertly crafted, and the staff makes you feel genuinely taken care of.
