Is This New Bedford’s Next Big Food Destination?

When I first walked into Candela, New Bedford’s newest addition to the downtown dining scene, I knew right away this wasn’t just another restaurant opening. The attention to detail — from the interior design to the atmosphere to the menu — signaled something special.
Located in the historic Candleworks building, Candela feels like a fresh chapter for the space. It’s elegant, modern, and inviting — a perfect reflection of what’s happening in New Bedford right now. The city is in the midst of a cultural and economic renaissance, and Candela fits into that momentum seamlessly.
The restaurant is part of Steve Silverstein’s Servedwell Hospitality Group, which already runs several successful concepts in the region. With Candela, that same commitment to quality, service, and experience is front and center. The food is vibrant and thoughtful, the cocktails are expertly crafted, and the staff makes you feel genuinely taken care of.
Candela’s menu leans Italian, but it doesn’t play it safe. The flavors are bold, the plating is sophisticated, and the pacing of the meal allows you to enjoy each course without feeling rushed. It’s the kind of place that works for a celebratory dinner, a night out with friends, or an elevated weekday meal.
Beyond the restaurant itself, Candela is also a strong signal of where New Bedford is headed. With the expansion of South Coast Rail and increased interest from both visitors and investors, the city is quickly becoming one of the most exciting destinations in the region — and restaurants like this one help lead the way.
If you haven’t been yet, I highly recommend making a reservation. Candela is more than just a beautiful new restaurant — it’s an experience that reflects the best of where our region is going.

Living in South Dartmouth & Padanaram Village
Most people have never heard of Padanaram Village, and honestly, that's part of what makes it so special. Why we kept coming back to South Dartmouth I was born and raised in Dartmouth, and surprisingly, my husband John was too. We met in first grade at Cushman School and spent our entire childhoods

Where to Look for Homes in Dartmouth, MA
If you have started looking for a home in Dartmouth, you have probably already opened three or four real estate sites and noticed something. A lot of the same houses keep showing up. That is not a coincidence, and once you understand why, it changes how you decide where to actually spend your time.

Padanaram Harbor Just Reminded Us Why It Keeps Winning
A full double rainbow set down over Padanaram Harbor last night. It came in right after a passing shower, the kind we get a lot of in late May, and it arced clean across the water from the marina side all the way over toward the bridge. Both bands showed. If you have spent any real time in Padanara
