HISTORY OF WARREN, RI

Founded in 1747, Warren was once one of the busiest ports in New England, central to shipbuilding and the whaling industry. Before that, it was part of the Plymouth Colony and played a key role in early colonial history. The town later became known for its textile mills and maritime commerce. Today, Warren preserves its history through colonial homes, waterfront warehouses, and museums, all while fostering a growing artistic and entrepreneurial spirit.

 

Fun fact: Warren is home to the oldest continuously operating Masonic Temple in Rhode Island, built in 1793.
